A Thankful Fall

The fourth Thursday of November remains a traditional time to enjoy the plentiful harvest grown in and around the fertile Skagit Valley. Thanksgiving is also an opportunity to appreciate the contributions we are able and willing to make, and the reliable community we exist between.

Yes, some may view Thanksgiving as a reason to have an extra day off during the week, or to be entertained by sports for a few additional hours. Others may spend the entire day cooking a traditional turkey dinner for their family or create a dish to share with friends over a “Friendsgiving.”

However you spend your holiday, ensure that you remain safe! November is a great time to check the expiration dates on your indoor fire extinguishers. Local companies can refill extinguisher contents quickly and for a fair price or sell you a new tank if needed. Keep one close by while preparing your basted turkey or flambe desserts.

The La Conner Volunteer Firefighters and its Association is thankful for such a caring, diverse, and colorful community to serve. We hope your Thanksgiving is enjoyed through the spirit of gratitude and the awareness of safety.
